Doesn’t Feel Right From This Side of the Telephone, Does It?

Planned (Less-) Parenthood doesn’t like it when people call and pretend to be something they’re not. Like when someone calls to donate money saying “he wanted the money to be used to eliminate unborn black babies because ‘the less black kids out there the better.'” Is anybody really surprised that the idiot on the other end of the line said, “Understandable, understandable. … Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I’ve had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I’m excited and want to make sure I don’t leave anything out”?

No one should be surprised. Minorities and the poor have long been targeted by Pee-Pee for more abortions. Hey, they’ll even give you a discount! But in such a blatant and explicit way that doesn’t even require statistical fact to back it up? Oops!

Officials for the group said last month that the employee made a “serious mistake” encouraging the donation, the Idaho Statesman reports. But Planned Parenthood criticized the publication that made the call — The Advocate, a student anti-abortion magazine at the University of California-Los Angeles — for trying to discredit the organization by having an actor pose as a donor, the Idaho Statesman reports.

“A fundraising employee violated the organization’s principles and practices when she appeared to be willing to accept a racially motivated donation,” Planned Parenthood of Idaho CEO Rebecca Poedy said in a written statement to the Statesman. “We apologize for the manner in which this offensive call was handled. We take full responsibility for the actions of the fundraising staff member who created the impression that racism of any form would be tolerated at Planned Parenthood.

“We took swift action to ensure that each of our employees understands their responsibility to communicate clearly with donors about the fact that we believe in helping all individuals, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation, make informed decisions about their reproductive health care.”

How much dissimulation can Pee-Pee fit into a single response? Yep, she made a serious “mistake.” But, seriously now, isn’t it a lot worse to lie to us? I mean, we’ve never had people lie on the phone to Crisis Pregnancy Centers, or anything like that! As if these right-wing extremists could actually discredit us! We kill babies, for pity’s sake!Ms. Poedy, which part of the call did you find “offensive”? By “we take full responsibility,” does that mean you are going to fire the “excited” racist who took the call, or do you take full responsibility for her response? Yeah, this one call was the only thing that has ever created a racist “impression” of Pee-Pee.And why don’t you just admit that the final paragraph leaves no doubt that you’re not just after little black babies, but little white babies, little Hispanic babies, and little Asian babies? Oh–don’t forget little gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning babies!

But she never said anyone was fired, did she…? Just sent to one of the Pee-Pee re-education camps. And, by the way, Autumn Kersey, who took the call, is not just some lowest-tier volunteer. She’s the vice president of development and marketing for Planned Parenthood of Idaho. Unless they just let anyone have the V.P. title. Here’s more at the Idaho Statesman.

Does “Religious Tax Exemption” Mean Anything?

Can anyone tell me why Obama’s church has not been stripped of its tax-exempt status?  There are definitely issues over which it would be necessary to give up tax exemption rather than give up the principle, and maybe Rev. Wright figures Obama for President is one of them.  But why is no one even bringing the question?  Because he’s bashing one Democrat to profit another?
