  1. Huh?!? Since when is not buying tickets or a radio station deciding what songs not to play considered “aren’t ready to make nice”?

The Dixie Chicks can release all the leftist political excrement they want, but if the “red states” decide to flush them down the toilet, the chicks have no one to blame but themselves.

  2. The Dixie Chicks have the right to free speech – but as they exercise that right they need to be prepared for the consequences, i.e. the exercise of free speech by others. I personally disagree with the harshness of their comments and also think that it was a stupid thing for them to get bogged down in politics when the purpose of their concerts is to entertain people. But, hey, it’s their perogotive to do as they wish. I think pretty much the same thing about all celebrities who get involved in politics. Certainly I applaud anyone who chooses to become involved in the political system and support a candidate. However, when a celebrity decides to use their status to heavily promote (or deride) a politician or candidate for office, they need to be prepared for the fact that at least some people are going to react negatively – and this could very well affect their celebrity status with some groups. Some celebrities in recent years have begun to act as though they are expert political commentators. If such a trend continues, the US political arena will be an even more convincing three-ring circus than it already is. In all I wish that celebrities would stick to doing what they are (arguably)best at – entertainment.
