More Theses from Walther

We have concluded our look at C.F.W. Walther’s 25 theses on the proper distinction between Law and Gospel. Now, let us read some more words from the first president of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod which derive from a presenation he gave at a convention in Addison, IL, beginning on June 15, 1870. These deal with communion fellowship.

Thesis I: “The true visible church in an unqualified sense, or a part of the same, is the one in which the Word of God is preached purely and the holy sacraments are administered according to Christ’s institution” (C.F.W. Walther, “Communion Fellowship” in Essays for the Church: Volume I [St. Louis: Concordia, 1992], 203).
