It looks like the President got the message and responded appropriately. Judge Alito appears to be a thoughtful, well-qualified, and wise person who knows how to fairly consider the facts of each case and apply the applicable law in a reasonable way.
Today from Ted Kennedy: “Rather than selecting a nominee for the good of the nation and the court, President Bush has picked a nominee whom he hopes will stop the massive hemorrhaging of support on his right wing. This is a nomination based on weakness, not strength.” — Sen. Edward M. Kennedy
But 15 years ago, when nominated to his current post: He was confirmed unanimously on April 27, 1990[1], with Senator Ted Kennedy commenting at the time that Alito had a ‘very distinguished record.’ (From Wikipedia)
Despite the ‘hopes’ that Sen. K believes are behind this nomination, Alito looks like the man for the job…sorry, person for the job.
