Yesterday, the Green Bay Packers retired the late Reggie White’s number 92 football jersey. No football player who plays in Green Bay will ever be able to wear that number again.
Some of his former teammates offered some recollections of White. I found the following comments from DE Sean Jones to be the most interesting.
“There were so many conflicts about him [White], so many different things, a guy so disciplined and passionate, but he couldn’t bypass a damn Burger King. He was a walking contradiction, if you understood him, then you understood that he was a person that was affected, he was blessed in a lot of ways, but he was so human because he was affected by the same things that afflicted us. The irony of it was that at the end of the day he ended up dying by something that afflicts everyone.”
