Dark Writes on American Light

David Dark, in his 2005 book entitled, The Gospel According to America: A Meditation on a God-blessed, Christ-haunted Idea, writes, “Our attachment to the culture into which we happen to be born is sometimes so powerful that we will resist recognizing our nation-state, tribe, or perceived master race as one human instrumentality among others. But when we find ourselves compelled to do so, we’re again confronted by a demystifying, historical continuum that our divisions of church or state, sacred or secular, and religion or politics will conceal to the detriment of any hope of thinking historically.”
